Taught by an experienced female instructor, Defence4Women provides courses in self-defence for women and girls across the Midlands and the UK.
Our courses and workshops are:

Designed specifically for girls and women – covering the attacks they are more likely to face and addressing the common ‘freeze’ response

Wide-ranging, covering areas such as situational awareness, verbal de-escalation and assertiveness, breathing techniques, practical defence skills, pad work and more

Trauma-informed and holistic approach – providing for trauma-based needs such as triggers and dissociation, aiding in the recovery from trauma and management of symptoms and responses

Adaptable to the individual or group’s specific requirements
She is also an Associate Member with Level 1A instructor training from Empowerment Self Defence (ESD), a global organisation promoting an evidence-based and trauma-informed approach to personal safety training that provides a variety of tools to address the spectrum of violence from verbal harassment to life-threatening situations.
Her background is in martial arts as a qualified instructor with the British Taekwondo Council, and a 4th Dan black belt in taekwon-do; she also trains in kick boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Russian Systema.
As well as teaching self-defence, she runs one of the only women's taekwon-do clubs in the country and teaches at this and various other classes each week. She is fully DBS-checked, first aid trained and holds public liability insurance for all her sessions.
